Financial Accountant

We believe customer obsession builds the best products, so our mission is to 'enable product teams to make better decisions through the power of customer understanding'. We think what we're building is an exciting, brand new category of software. Our product-led growth strategy has seen us expand to thousands of customers like VMware, Shopify, Autodesk, GitLab, Porsche, Canva, and more.

With strong ongoing business growth we're now looking for a financial accountant to join Dovetail's small yet growing BizOps & Finance team. As the first dedicated financial accounting hire, this is an incredible greenfield opportunity to immerse yourself in our day to day financial accounting whilst also experiencing opportunities to shape and scale our accounting workflows and system capabilities.

This role would suit a passionate accountant interested in making their mark in a high growth, early stage SaaS startup. You'll be joining a small team with previous experience working in organizations such as PwC (Sydney and San Francisco), Monitor Deloitte, and AgTech startup Granular. In the next few years, we have high aspirations to build out a world class finance function at Dovetail, and we're looking for a superstar to join us and be a core member in the journey.

  • Supporting key accounting workflows. You'll be working on our accounts payable and accounts receivable processes including making sure timely vendor payments, coding invoices, customer billing and collection duties, and bank reconciliations.

  • Tax compliance and reporting. You'll work on the preparation of our local and international tax returns including GST, FBT, PRT, BAS, IAS, and US sales tax/VAT.

  • Maintaining our accounting playbook. You'll help keep our procedural documentation and accounting policies updated for any relevant changes.

  • Getting involved with high-impact finance initiatives. You'll have the opportunity to be involved in financial accounting projects as and when they come up (e.g. external audits, technical accounting assessments).

  • Anything else that comes our way! We're a high growth startup and there may be additional opportunities to roll up sleeves and work on other key business initiatives (e.g. budgets/forecasting, R&D tax incentive claims), especially whilst we continue to build out our BizOps & Finance teams.
