We've got ambitious goals over the next 18 months and we're looking for a Head of Engineering who will be focused on growing this team to 50+ while achieving the highest standards for engineering disciplines and innovation. What you’ll do

  • Lead our team of high-performing engineers. You'll be responsible for the overall performance of our engineering team and help us to build great products. You'll work closely with the engineering managers to build and lead a team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development.

  • Scaling the team from 15 to 50+ over the next 18 months. We have ambitious goals and to achieve them we need to triple the team. You'll be excited by the problems that come with scaling an engineering team and have experience in solving them effectively.

  • Work closely with our product leadership team. You'll support with strategic planning for our product vision and you'll work closely with our CTO, Head of Product, and Product Design Lead to define timelines for new product teams to help us achieve our end of 2022 goals.

  • Mature our engineering function. As we grow you'll be responsible for evolving our engineering processes to keep us delivering customer value at speed. You'll be ensuring consistency across our teams for role responsibilities and levels and enhancing our onboarding experience.

  • Build a diverse and inclusive team. We joined Program 50/50 to build more diversity within our technology teams and create an inclusive culture. You'll work with our People Lead to drive this initiative forward and be a champion for this across the business.

Your background

  • You've led an engineering function through rapid growth. You've experienced the challenges of building, scaling, and evolving teams in the face of ambiguity. You know how to align and motivate an ambitious team, while building trust in your leadership and direction.

  • Experience managing managers. You've managed engineering managers and are comfortable giving and receiving feedback to motivate and steer them to success. You know what good looks like, can confidently identify areas for improvement, provide timely guidance, and motivate them to reach their goals.

  • You've built engineering teams from the ground up. You confidently navigate the early forming and storming phases of teams. You've been instrumental in establishing new teams from scratch, deciding on the roles, recruiting to fill them, and grown them into highly-effective teams.

  • Have a strong product development background. You've managed complex technical projects and know how to build products and features from scratch. You've partnered with product management and design leaders to make difficult scoping and design decisions in order to regularly deliver valuable features to customers.
