Sales Development Representative

We believe in building incredible software that's affordable, easy to use, solves customer problems, and that our customers can try for free and buy themselves. We're inspired by companies like Atlassian, Canva, Datadog, and Slack who have built amazing products with incredibly sales-efficient businesses. This product-led growth strategy has seen us expand to hundreds of customers like Shopify, Boston Consulting Group, VMware, GitLab, and more.

We've achieved all of this from Sydney, Australia – with only a few key individuals working on sales and developing our Enterprise business. Enterprise has been growing at 15% month-on-month, with the majority of customers located in North America and Europe. We've recently raised capital to accelerate this growth, with backing from Australia's leading VC firm, Blackbird Ventures (investors in Canva and SafetyCulture), and by US-based Felicis Ventures (investors in Adyen, Shopify, and Notion).

In early 2022 we will be establishing a presence in San Francisco to enable us to better serve our global customer base, and fuel continued Enterprise growth. You will join us as the first individual focused on inbound sales development and you will be a critical contributor in developing an inbound motion that leverages the hundreds of leads and trials that sign up for Dovetail every week. You'll work with the team in Sydney to develop an inbound motion that complements the self-service sales model that has taken us to where we are today.

While we work to establish a physical office in San Francisco, we are open to individuals starting remotely with the view to be a key contributor in developing our local presence, office culture, and fuelling our continued Enterprise growth in North America. We expect to be able to have someone start in this role from January 2022.

What you’ll do

As a Sales Development Representative at Dovetail, you will be expected to:

  • Generate new Enterprise business. You'll engage with prospects in our free trial experience and inbound channels to help them understand the value of Dovetail and move them forward in our Enterprise sales process, generating qualified pipeline of new business for Account Executives.

  • Write the playbook for inbound outreach. You'll work to build the motion for sales development within all of our inbound channels from the ground up. You'll partner with the Revenue team to improve our tooling and data enrichment capabilities to inform our sales development efforts.

  • Help mature our global Enterprise business. You'll work with the Revenue team to contribute to the overall growth our global Enterprise business, and pioneer new practices to establish processes for how we develop new business from within our product-led channels such as our free trial experience.

  • Provide prospects with a great experience through a consultative approach. Your interaction and engagement with prospects will be at a critical and influential stage of their relationship with Dovetail. You'll work to ensure that prospects feel supported and leave every interaction with an amazing impression of Dovetail.

  • Become a Dovetail expert. You'll develop intimate knowledge of how Dovetail works, what Dovetail is capable of, and an understanding of the market so that you can effectively help our prospects.

Your background

Ideally we're looking for someone to join us with:

  • Some prospecting skills, experience with cold calling, emailing, sequencing campaigns, and social is a plus.

  • Experience outperforming in a high-growth sales environment. Ideally, you would have also contributed to an early-stage sales team, preferably in a B2B SaaS.

  • Excellent, concise communication so you can easily convey your thoughts, opinions, and feelings with customers and teammates.

  • The right attitude towards a sense of urgency, risk, and ambiguity that naturally comes with working at an early-stage startup.
