Senior Marketing Manager

We believe in building incredible software that's affordable, easy to use, solves customer problems, and that our customers can try for free and buy themselves. We're inspired by companies like Atlassian, Canva, Datadog, and Slack who have built amazing products with incredibly sales-efficient businesses. This product-led growth strategy has seen us expand to hundreds of customers like Shopify, Boston Consulting Group, VMware, GitLab, and more.

We've achieved all of this from Sydney, Australia – with a small, but growing Marketing team. We've recently raised capital to accelerate this growth, with backing from Australia's leading VC firm, Blackbird Ventures (investors in Canva and SafetyCulture), and by US-based Felicis Ventures (investors in Adyen, Shopify, and Notion).

In early 2022 we will be establishing a presence in San Francisco to enable us to better serve our global customer base. You will join us as our first marketing hire outside of Sydney and you will be a critical contributor in building our regional marketing function. You'll work with the team in Sydney to execute best-in-class marketing programs to drive customer growth and build customer advocacy.

While we work to establish a physical office in San Francisco, we are open to individuals starting remotely with the view to be a key contributor in developing our local presence, office culture, and fuelling our growth in North America. We expect to be able to have someone start in this role from January 2022.

What you’ll do

  • Own and implement region-specific marketing plan for brand awareness, customer acquisition and community building, including events, partnerships, PR, enablement and community. You will own the marketing calendar, manage a budget and work with internal teams and agencies to execute best-in-class marketing programs.

  • Lead the event marketing strategy and execution, including sponsored and owned events, (industry conferences, speaking engagements, partner events and community meetups). You will negotiate sponsorship packages, oversee event logistics, ensure brand and messaging is on-point, design pre-, at- and post-event communication and coordinate with local agencies/companies to execute.

  • Plan and execute our first user conference. Work with Marketing and Product teams to prepare the end-to-end event, including event logistics.

  • Manage and execute partner marketing initiatives that drive growth through our partner network in North America. Identify opportunities, prepare integrated campaigns and ensure on-brand messaging.

  • Support recruitment marketing. Build Dovetail's employer brand through live and virtual events, partnerships and digital campaigns, in collaboration with People and Marketing team.

  • Partner with regional sales and customer success team to coordinate on marketing activities that generate trials and build our community, including pre- and post-event outreach.

  • Collaborate with marketing team to execute marketing tactics. You will coordinate with our product marketing, content, community and creative team to execute your plans, in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

  • Reporting. Deliver real-time reporting on campaign performance, including brand awareness, new trials, enterprise leads and community engagement. You will bring a data-driven approach, focusing on biggest impact projects.

  • Budget management. You will effectively forecast, plan and report on expenses, making sure to prioritize and focus spending on high-impact activities.

  • Grow your team. You will build out the marketing team in San Fransisco, to meet the needs of the North America market.

Your background

  • Strong B2B marketing experience. You have extensive experience in building a brand and driving customer acquisition in a B2B SaaS environment. You understand how to operate at a regional level to drive demand, build awareness and create customer advocacy.

  • Strong people management experience. You have proven experience hiring, developing and growing a team. You know how to motivate and challenge a team, while keeping them accountable.

  • Proven event marketing experience. You have managed end-to-end event programs - both sponsored and owned, live and virtual. You are a star executor, wearing many hats to achieve the desired outcome.

  • Data-driven. You have experience setting measurable goals that can be tracked, optimised and reported back to the team. You have experience forecasting ROI and measuring CAC.

  • Self-starter. You can work on multiple projects with many stakeholders at the same time. You take ownership, sweat the details and see projects through to the end with little/no support needed.

  • Ambitious and keen to learn. Ambition, eagerness and the will to learn, improve your skills, and grow alongside an exciting startup as we scale our marketing operations.
