Video Producer

We're building a legendary team of creatives to help us make Dovetail a brand people love. Our in-house Creative Studio team are tasked with strengthening our brand and developing a diverse visual style that resonates with our customers and users, and represents who we are. We're inspired by the brand teams at software companies like Intercom, Dropbox, Mailchimp, and Zendesk.

The Creative Studio will operate as a small cross-functional team inside Dovetail. The team will have huge creative freedom to develop memorable content including merchandise, digital and print illustrations, posters and stationery, written content, videos, and dank memes across a variety of channels. This ain't a corporate gig – we're a small startup keen on differentiating our brand. Tote bags and posters > letterheads and business cards.

As a member of the Creative Studio team, you'll not only work closely with other graphic designers and writers, but also collaborate with our broader product and marketing team including designers, researchers, product marketers, and customer success managers.

With so many fantastic video projects coming up at Dovetail, we’re looking for incredible video producers to join our rapidly growing team. We’ve always believed in the power of great content to create communities, tell incredible stories, and educate the masses. But what we love about video in particular is that it can convey in-depth concepts at speed, amplify the human behind the work, and capture an audience’s attention. We couldn’t be more excited to bring all videography and storytelling in-house.

What you’ll do

  • Own end-to-end video content. You’ll be able to take a wide variety of digital content from conceptualization to post-production. You’ll produce, shoot, edit, and be the go-to for scheduling, equipment, lighting, sound, and storyboarding.

  • Deliver a steady stream of content. We expect you to be comfortable with high throughput to satisfy an engaged and broad audience. You’re skilled in organization and can prioritize and adhere to deadlines.

  • Tell incredible stories. You’ll connect with your audience to uncover and explore their fascinating stories. You’ll develop storytelling opportunities and generate new ideas for video content with industry leaders, customers, and the team.

  • Attention to detail. One of our values calls to “sweat the details,” so you’ll use your eagle eye to ensure all video content reaches our high-quality bar, including grand narratives, expert composition, and brand consistency.

  • Measure results to level up our approach. We’d expect you to keep an eye on the impact of your content and continually raise the bar with fresh ideas and optimization opportunities.

  • Collaborate with your team. While you’ll drive and manage your projects, you’ll need to partner closely with the people, revenue, product, and ops teams to create captivating content. You’ll also work with the team to pitch your ideas, learn from them, and get feedback to make your content shine.

  • Build our video brand guidelines. As our first video producer, you’ll build out the video brand guidelines to ensure all video content is created consistently.

  • Scale our video competency. You’ll be the type of videographer that shoots once and expertly edits to create a range of assets—always looking for opportunities to scale yourself.

Your background

  • Strong video production experience. Creating captivating video content to engage audiences is your bread and butter. You have shooting and editing experience and the know-how to lead video projects end-to-end.

  • Experience using video editing tools. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud apps, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and After Effects.

  • A passion for great content. Your portfolio displays a genuine dedication to the industry, craft, and a drive to be the best. Whether that’s portraying the stories of the community or producing a product demo video, you know how to capture the audience’s attention across various formats and lengths.

  • Extremely high attention to detail. One of our values is “if we do it, we nail it.” You have a high-quality bar and strive to maintain an excellent level of detail and consistency across all content you create.

  • Pragmatic and collaborative. You have a proven ability to meet deadlines while also dealing with the ambiguities of a fast-paced start-up. You can smoothly manage incoming requests and feedback from the business and prioritize accordingly.

  • Creatively charged. You know what looks good, and you keep up with the latest video trends to tell stories in novel ways.

  • Scrappy execution. You’re a self-starter who brings new ideas and gets shit done. You focus on the outcome and don’t immediately turn to processes and tools.

  • Strong domain expertise is a plus. Ideally, you have hands-on experience working in small start-ups that are growing and transitioning to a more mature scale-up.

  • Animation expertise is a plus. Ideally, you have hands-on experience creating and integrating 2D motion graphics into your content.
