Forwarding answers to Evernote or an email address

Evernote (and some other note-taking tools) allow you to add notes via email. It’s a neat way to save receipts, travel information, invoices, recipes, and anything else you might want to find later.

We’ve found lot of researchers use Evernote for analyzing qualitative data. With Dovetail, you can forward all answers for a study to any email address by setting up a forwarding address. You can even customise the subject line so answers go into a particular notebook.

Set up a forwarding address

  1. Find out what your Evernote email address is.
  2. In Dovetail, go to study settings for the study you’d like to configure answer forwarding for.
  3. At the bottom of the screen, enter a forwarding email address (if you’re using Evernote, enter the email address from step 1).
  4. Optionally, customize the subject line. For Evernote, you can use @ to put answers in existing notebooks (e.g. @Research), or # to tag answers with existing tags (e.g. #dovetail).
  5. Save your study in the bottom left of the screen.

New answers from participants will now be saved in Evernote.

Don’t use Evernote?

This feature works just as well for any other non-Evernote email address, including your own. Give it a try and send us some feedback!
