Because Repository Files live standalone, you can find them in Playback in a variety of ways:
Recent
After you upload a file, you’ll be directed to the Recent page, with the files filter applied, to see the uploaded file.
The Recent page will show you anything you’ve looked at, in order of most-recent-first, followed by anything that has been added to Dovetail, in order of most-recent-first.
Explore
The Explore page provides an ability for your admin to set up saved feeds of content. These feeds can include files.
Search for a file
Click inside the search bar to open the Search page.
Click on “Everything” to open the object selection, and select Files to restrict the results to only files.
Type your search term to see results. There will be two types of search results:
Results with file names that partially match your query. For example – searching “report” will return a match for “Quarterly Research Reports”
Results with files whose contents match your query. For example – searching “research” will take you to page 5 of a file named “User Experience Report” because it mentions the word “research”.
Note: When nothing is entered in search, you see all files in your workspace, and the page will scroll until all results are displayed - this is useful for a “list everything”, in those rare situations where you might remember what a file looked like, but not the title.
Alternatives to Searching
You can use filters and sorts to construct a useful search query:
Click inside the search bar to open the Search page.
Click on “Everything” to open the object selection, and select Files to restrict the results to only files.
Click on the filter icon to create a new filter - for example, a filter where Title contains “quarterly” will return all results for files that have a word “quarterly” somewhere within the title.
Click on the (A/Z) icon to create a new sort - for example created newest first will show most recently uploaded files first.
