Troubleshooting login

An inability to access Dovetail may be caused by a variety of reasons. Find the issue you’re experiencing below, and try the troubleshooting steps to see if your issue is resolved before contacting us.

I can't log in

Check you’re using the same email address you first used when you joined Dovetail. When this is confirmed, try changing your password.

It says I’m locked out

Dovetail automatically locks user accounts after multiple unsuccessful log in attempts or strange behavior. This is a security precaution to prevent brute-force attacks. If you think someone else is trying to gain access to your account, please contact us immediately.

To unlock your account:

  1. Visit the log in page.

  2. Type your email address and click Continue.

If your email address is associated with only one workspace:

  1. Click Unlock account below the form.

  2. Check your email and follow the instructions.

If your email address is associated with multiple workspaces:

  1. Check your email to confirm your address.

  2. Click the workspace that you’re locked out of.

  3. Click Unlock account below the form.

  4. Check your email and follow the instructions.

I didn’t receive an invitation email

Ask a teammate to re-send the invitation email.

My reset password email doesn’t work

You need to change you password within 3 days. After that you will need to resend another reset password email.

I don’t receive any emails

See I’m not receiving emails from Dovetail – why?.

I don’t see my projects when I log in

You might be in the wrong workspace. Switch to the correct workspace.

I can’t edit anything when I log in

You might not have the correct permissions due to your current role in the workspace. Ask a workspace admin to change your role in the workspace.

I see a blank screen when I log in

Refresh the window. Log out and back in again. Try a different browser. Contact us if the problem persists.

I see a blank screen when going to my profile

Log out and back in again. Contact us if the problem persists.

I see an error message when I log in

Refresh the window. Contact us if the problem persists.
