Senior Product Designer

Sydney, Australia - Full time

We're expanding our legendary team of multi-disciplinary designers at Dovetail. We're known among our customers for making enterprise software with a great user experience that's also easy on the eye. You'll work closely with other designers on the team, product management and engineering to help drive our design direction and shape the future product.

We're a small but rapidly growing team. We're looking for someone who can wear multiple hats across the design process, and with great attention to detail create quality experiences that reflect our brand.

Your responsibilities

  • Contribute to our product design across the entire end-to-end design process. Design new features, improve existing features and contribute to our overall product vision and design direction utilising skills across research, user experience, interaction and visual design.

  • Collaborate with the product team. Work closely with the entire product team, including product managers, engineers and other designers to understand our customers, product requirements and ship features.

  • Help us establish our design system. You'll work with other designers on the team to create design patterns, user interface components, and iconography to be shared across different parts of the user experience.

  • Contribute to our research efforts. Contribute and lead research projects including generative studies to understand our customers, their pain points and requirements, as well as evaluative studies to test new designs and concepts.

Your background

  • Strong design experience. Experience working as a professional UX / UI / Product / Interaction Designer working with sophisticated, modern cloud software.

  • Breadth of skills across the design process. Including journey mapping, wire-framing, interaction and visual design, prototyping, and research.

  • Experience collaborating with other roles. You have experience working with adjacent roles such as product managers and engineers, as well as an understanding of all roles involved in the product development process and how each role adds value to the business (e.g. marketing, support, customer success).

  • Attention to detail. You have a high quality bar and will be constantly looking at enhancing the experience for customers. We aren't opposed to pushing pixels and sweating the details – we're a detailed-oriented company that values quality!

  • Excellent communication. Skilful, concise communication so you can easily communicate visual concepts and rationalise your decisions. Be able to convey your opinions and feelings with other teammates, founders, and customers. Honest, thoughtful, and transparent communication is critical to our success as a business.

  • A great attitude. The right attitude towards a sense of urgency, risk, and uncertainty about the future that comes with working at an early-stage startup. This is an opportunity to be involved in an exciting journey from the very start.

  • Pragmatism. You'll need to be comfortable with ambiguity, be resourceful to solve problems, and be able to adjust to shifting deadlines and project goals.

  • Competitive base salary plus equity. Even though we’re a small startup, we pay salaries that can hold their own against the big Sydney tech companies.

  • Competitive equal paid parental leave.

  • KitKat days. We understand the importance of mental health and wellbeing, these are extra paid days holiday for the whole company where everyone can take a break.

  • Floating public holiday. You can choose to work public holidays and use that day another time in the year.

  • Flexible working hours and location – we value work-life balance, especially right now. While we’re mostly back in the office, you’re free to work where you want, when you want.

  • Personal learning and development budget. We’re a big fan of personal development, and prefer to home-grow leaders rather than filling leadership / management externally.

  • A brand new architecturally designed office in Surry Hills with free snacks, beer on tap and drinks, three different coffee machines, social areas, and a rooftop!

  • TGIF events are a monthly company wide activity on a Friday for the whole team.

  • Salary sacrifice. We have a salary sacrifice policy for work related items.

  • Sit-stand desks, 4k 27” monitor, ergonomic chairs, quiet spaces, and collaboration spaces, to suit all kinds of working styles.

  • Pet friendly office! We love dogs and often have dogs in the office.

  • Regular lunch and learn events, opportunities for presenting at webinars and conferences, and networking through our investor community.

  • Annual company retreats.
